천축산 불영사의 신자료 고찰 = Buryeongsa Temple's New Artifacts

국문 초록 (Abstract)

불영사는 신라 진덕여왕 5년(651)에 의상대사가 창건하였다고 傳하는 사찰이다. 이곳은 정확한 소장 유물의 현황조차 조사가 되어 있지 않은 실정이며, 문헌자료도 빈약하여 사적 배경을 잘 알 수 가 없는 상태이다.
필자는 빈약한 문헌을 보완할 수 있는 자료가 있지 않을까 하여 불영사를 조사한 결과 잘 알려지지 않은 불패 2기, 인현왕후 원당 상량문 1기, 양성당부도비명을 발견하게 되었다.
불패는 1678년에 만들어 졌으며, 인현왕후원당은 1867년에, 양성당부도는 1696년에, 양성당부도비는 1738년에 건립된 것으로 밝혀졌다.
이 자료들은 명문으로 인하여 불영사의 역사를 복원할 수 있는 사료적 가치가 매우 높은 자료들로 특히, 대부분의 불교공예품이 그 제작연대를 잘 알 수 없는데, 이번에 발견된 유물들은 제작시기를 알 수 있어 한국불교사 연구에 귀중한 자료가 될 것으로 판단된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Buryeongsa Temple(佛影寺) is a traditional temple that is located in Mt. Cheonchuk(天竺山) of Hawon-ri Seo-myeon Uljin-gun Gyeongbuk. It is believed to be established by Great Priest Ui Sang(義湘) during the 5th year(651 A.D.) of the reign of Shilla Queen Jin Deok(眞德女王) and has undergone several reconstruction and restoration during the Joseon Dynasty(朝鮮). but no thorough studies have been made on its assets.
I have recently excavated Bulpae(佛牌), Yang Seongdang Sarira Tower epitaph(養性堂浮屠碑銘) and Inhyeonwanghuwondang Sangnyangmun(仁顯王后願堂 上梁文) in Buryeongsa Temple.
In conclusion, Bulpae was made in 1678 and Yang Seongdang Sarira Tower in 1696, Yang Seongdang Sarira Tower monument in 1738, and Inhyeonwanghuwondang was built in 1867.
Generally, Buddhist crafts do not indicate when they were established, but those artifacts in Buryeongsa Temple tell us the date of its establishment.
Also, as it is very well-preserved, I strongly believe that it is a significant finding for the study of Korea's Buddhist arts and history.
