전문대학 교육의 국제화를 통한 글로벌 인력자원개발 = developing Global Human Resources by Globalization of Vocational College Education

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In recent years, human resources development (HRD) has gained importance as one of the major strategies to assist the nation to compete in the global markets. It has also gained prominence at the vocational college level in terms of student numbers and importance.In the past, human resources development at the vocational college level was not as researched and discussed to the same extent as were other educational topics, including entrance examinations, private schooling, and higher educational reform. However, signals of malfunctioning in the overall vocational education and training system have led to recent increases of in-depth discussions of the need for vocational college reform and development. These discussions have been particularly focussed on the environmental changes which have had an impact on education including a) rapid development of scientific knowledge, and information and communications technology (ICT), b) increasing globalization of markets, and c) changes in demographic structure and the advent of livelong learning society. These changes have accelerated each college's efforts to establish a new direction, and develop new strategies for survival. Based on a review of the current status of human resources development in Korean and foreign vocational colleges, this paper explores a variety of strategies for developing human resources in an era of globalization. These include a) recruiting experts with the knowledge to operate in globalized areas, b) strengthening cross-cultural understanding, c) expanding the scope of international studies, d) diversifying partnerships with countries from different regions, and e) establishing government networks for assisting colleges to develop international exchanges and cooperation.
