This study tries to find the difference in residents' satisfaction by housing types and analyzes how this difference affects the residential choice among various types of housing. Also it tries to find out what factors are critical m explaining the difference in residents' satisfaction.
We analyzed the survey data with size of 1,788, which was randomly selected among the households in P city in 1997. We used x² and ANOVA, Duncan analysis and 95% significance level. Findings are as followings,
First, there exist differences in residential satisfaction by housing types and satisfaction ranking is row house, apartment, single-detached house, rnulti-family house.
Second, there exist differences in residents' Satisfaction between apartment and single-detached house and crirical factors are number of rooms, layouts of living room and bathroom, noise, environmental aspects and facilities of complex and neighbor, security, parking.
Third, multi-family houses show the lowest satisfaction.
Fourth, the group dissatisfied of housing size and interior space shows higher preference of apartment than that satisfied of housing size and interior space.
Fifth, among the satisfaction factors, the satisfaction of number of rooms is highest while the satisfaction of closet space is lowest.
