    Korean language education has a 40 year history domestically. It started on a small scale with small homogeneous student group and in the last 40 years we have seen both quantitative and qualitative growth. This article takes a look at the present state of domestic and overseas Korean language education from both demand and supply aspects and briefly elucidates the characteristics of Korean language education. It also deals with the Korean government's domestic and foreign policy concerning Korean language education up until now. It will focus on the roles of ministries of Korean government, regulations concerning Korean education, and the roles of governmental institutes related to Korean education. Finally, this article will conclude by incorporating the above ideas in order to offer ways in which the government can improve.
