This paper compares the trends and types of child poverty from 1945 to the present period according to the stages of economic development and child welfare policies. After 30 years of economic development, Korea has joined the OECD and has reduced the absolute poor to 3.396 out of the entire population Due to these social indices, it seems that the number of poor children have been reduced, and most children do not need to struggle for their own lives. However, due to the increased rate of family dissolution, 25 out of 1,000 children live under absolute poor condition. Moreover, the types of child poverty have increased to teen-househead children and mother or father-headed children. Furthermore, due to unequal distribution of income, the most children in current society feel relatively poor and maladjusted to school and society. Based on these facts, this paper applies the six principles of child welfare policy to prevent and resolve child poverty.
