다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

Violence between husbands and wives has not always been viewed as a serious social problem, while historically physical punishment by husbands against their wives has been accepted as a way of maintaining domestic authority in many societies. In recent years there has been an increase in public awareness of domestic violence owing in large part to the women's movements of the 1970's with their emphasis on balancing out the power relations between women and men in the western countries. However, Korean wife abuse is still not addressed as a serious dilemma for the field in Korean society. It is easy to ignore violence as a primary treatment issue as diagnostic formulation and cultural myths deflect attention onto the battered women and away from her situation, her partner and the violence itself.
While community workers are becoming aware of the seriousness of battered wives in Korean American families, there has been little systematic research of this phenomenon. The objectives of this work are to more accurately estimate the incidence of conjugal violence in Korean American families; to analyze the factors that may contribute to family violence among Korean Americans and finally to suggest more appropriate clinical treatment and community based services for Korean families.
