Comprehensive Countermeasures for the Critical Situation of Travel Agencies Daesoon Yoon The purpose of study is to present alternative plans for travel agencies that face crises. It analyzes tourism benefits which are often misunderstood. It also offers in-depth analysis of necessity of travel agencies, difficult situations of all travel agencies, circumstances of public tourism facilities, and other agency such as the International Monetary Fund which was unknown to Koreans before. This study combines the issues discussed in the seminar, $quot;Comprehensive Countermeasures for the Critical Situations of Adverse Balance of Payments in Tourism and Travel Agencies in Korea-How about this way to manage travel agencies?$quot; held on November 18, 1997 by the Korean Tourism Reporter Association.
Moreover, this study further captures opinions of travel agency specialists and an experienced researcher who had worked in a travel agency for ten years and has taught in higher education for thirteen years.
In the conclusion the study recommends some reform measure for inseparable problems. First, one must have a new understanding of the benefit of tourism and the necessity of travel agencies. Second, it furnishes some solutions for the entire travel agencies and individual travel agencies. Lastly, the study tries to instill some strong sense of responsibilities for the staffs in Korean National Tourism Corporation and Tourism Bureau in the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
