The purpose of this study was to develop scales pertaining to the different factors in order to better understand resilience factors in families of children with disabilities. 127 families who had children with disabilities participated in this study. A review of the literature was first conducted to determine different factors and relevant questions. A factor analysis was conducted to verify the construct validity of the factors and the questions. As a result, 7 questions were derived for one factor for FPSC. FHI consisted of four factors and 15 questions pertaining to $quot;control$quot;, $quot;challenge$quot;, $quot;coping characteristics$quot;, and $quot;committment$quot;. 12 questions and three factors ($quot;community emotional support$quot;, $quot;community altruistic support$quot;, $quot;community network support$quot;) comprised the SSI. FSCH-E consisted of three factors and 19 questions: $quot;ethnic belief$quot;, $quot;family value$quot;, and $quot;family identity$quot;. The scale that measures family adjustment, FACI8 comprised of three factors and 13 questions: $quot;flexibility$quot;, $quot;bonding$quot;, and $quot;cohesion$quot;. FMWB consisted of a single factor and 6 questions. A Cronbach α was computed for each scale for reliability purpose. A favorable reliability value in the range of .77 to .85 was established. The results proved FPSC, FHI, SSI, FSCH-E, FACI 8, and FMWB to be viable scales that can study resilience in families of children with disabilities. The scales will assist in establishing a resilience model and furthermore in identifying critical factors that determine resilience.
