The purposes of the present study were (1) to investigate influence of mothers` parenting behavior, psychological well-being, marital relationship and children`s characteristics in relation to kindergarten on children`s attachment and social development, (2) to examine the association between attachment and social development. Fifth-four children age 5 and 6 years and their mothers were observed and videotaped in a strange situation. Mothers completed questionnaires regarding mothers` parenting behavior, psychological well-being, marital satisfaction, parenting stresses and children`s temperament. In addition, teachers rated children`s social development using modified ISCS(Iowa Social Competency Scale: Preschool Form). The results showed that the most significant predictor of children`s attachment and social development was reasoning guidance of parenting behavior. The secure attachment was associated positively with mother`s reasoning guidance, involvement, intimacy and child`s emotionality and negatively with parenting stress. The insecure attachment was associated positively with mother`s limit setting, child`s activity and emotionality and negatively with mother`s reasoning guidance. Social development was associated positively with mother`s reasoning guidance and negatively with parenting stress. Children`s Insecure attachment were negative influence on their social development.
