The purpose of this study was to examine the differences of the Social Support, Self-Perceived Competence, and Stress by sex and age for the Children. The subjects were 438 children of 5th grade in elementary and first grade in Junior High School in Taejeon. The instruments used for this study were Children`s Social Support, Self Perceived Competence and Stress Scale. The data were analyzed by t-test, Pearson`s correlation, multiple regression. The main results of the study were as follows; 1. Social supports had no differences depending on sex. Social Supports were significantly different depending on age in some domain. The 5th grade in elementary experienced more social supports than the first grades in Junior High School in the family-related and teacher reated supports. 2. Self perceived Competence were Significantly different depending on sex and age. Boys experienced more competence than girls in Scholastic, Social Acceptance, Athletic, Physical, and Global Self-Worth domains. The 5th graders in Elementary School experienced more competences than the first graders in Junior High School in Scholastic, Physical, Global Self-worth domains. 3. Stresses were Significantly different depending on sex and age. Girls experienced more Stresses than boys in Parent-related and Academic-related domains. The first graders in Junior High School experienced more Stresses than the 5th graders in Elementary School in Parent-related and Academic-related domains. But the first graders in Junior High School experienced less Stresses than the 5th graders in Elementary School in Friend-related domains.
