This study examined the relationship between personality type by the MBTI, reason for working(motivation for working), and career path preferences. The sample consisted of 156 company employees in S enterprise. They are working for insurance company and automobil manufaturing industry, The overall results in this study, in relation to career path choice, some support was found for the effect of type. The results showed that Is and Js choose the managerial work, Is and Ns prefer technical works, and Es, Ps chose business. This study also examined type differences in terms of reasons for working. As a results, recognition showed strongly related type T. And overall types prefered values of money and comfort. This study take aim at replication of Garden(1997)`s research in Korean company situation. The results are partly consistent with Garden(1977)`s results. The overall results in this study, in relation to both career choice and motivation for work, suggest that behavior and choices in work settings are influenced to some extent by type. However the result also suggest the need in future research for clarifying any contingent factor involved rather than examining type alone.
