The purpose of this study is to find the effects of introducing `Mind Map` in school children`s learning activities on their science achievement, and creativity development that are learner`s perceptual characteristic. In order to compare the difference of the; effects of learning methods, learning by `Mind Map` and conventional learning controlled by teachers were introduced to an experimental group and a controlled group respectively. As for the test of the creativity, the Simple Creativity Test Paper developed by the Educational Research Centre in the Educational College of the Seoul National University was used and sublevel test items such as openness, fluency, flexibility and originality were analyzed in terms of the tendency of the creativity development. The results of the study were as follows: 1. In the experimental group learned by `Mind Map`, the children`s usages of core words, images, colors, codes and symbols increased and it was shown that learning by `Mind Map` gave considerable positive effects on the children`s creativity development (P$lt;.001) 2. Children`s learning activities by `Mind Map` showed a significant statistical difference in terms of sublevel items like fluency, flexibility and originality(P$lt;.05). However, there was no meaningful difference in the openness(P$gt;.05). 3. It was noted that a significant statistical improvement of children`s learning achievement was made by introducing `Mind Map` in their learning activities(P$lt;.05). Considering the above mentioned results of this study, it seemed that learning by `Mind Map` helped children more effectively understand science subjects through the activities of linking their concepts by themselves. In conclusion, it is necessary to introduce `Mind Map` in children`s various science learning activities in the actual classes.
