The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between the scientific inquiry ability and the hemispheric lateralization and the provide a fundamental information necessary for improving the scientific inquiry ability and developing the teaching program. The main results were as follows: 1. Based on the cognitive laterality test, there more right-dominants than the left-dominants and the equally-developed students. The correlation between the scientific inquiry ability and the hemispheric lateralization was statistically significant (p$lt;0.1). 2. In the scientific inquiry ability test, the score of the right-dominants was higher than ones of the other two groups. The difference among three groups was statistically significant (p$lt;0.001). 3. There was no significant correlation between science achievement and the hemispheric lateralization. Although the right-dominants showed a higher science achievement score, there was no significant difference among three group. 4. The excellent students in the basic inquiry ability seemed the have the right-brain mode. The excellent students in integrated inquiry ability seemed to have the equally developed-brain mode.
