The purpose of this study was to identify how do Korean elementary and secondary students conceptualize living things and nonliving things. Fear this study, a total of 965 students at elementary and secondary school levels were sampled in Korea, and a questionnaire of paper test was administered to them. The results were as follows. 1. Many students identified traits of living, things with traits of animals, vertebrates` mammals, men, etc.. 2. More students chose three animal items living things among sixteen items consisted of things animate and inanimate. 3. Half of students misunderstood embryos as inanimate objects.
