This study analyzes the process by which one teacher`s concepts of and practices in early childhood science education changed through developmental supervision. An early childhood teacher, a vice-director, and a professor cooperatively implemented the process of developmental supervision-creating positive relationship, diagnosing and setting the purpose, implementing evaluating it for 1 year in a child care center. Interview data, journals, video tapes and lesson plans were qualitatively analyzed. The teacher`s science concept and teaching practice had been moved toward a constructivist view through the supervision process, especially through reading professional books. This case study suggests that developmental supervision based on teachers` developmental traits is a feasible and effective model for improving science instruction.
