This study examines an integrated music appreciation program for young children which correlates musical elements with movement elements in an effort to experientially structure young students` attention thus enhancing their musical understanding. Data for analysis was gathered through recording and photographing the process. A likert scale was also employed. The results indicate that after a 3 month peiod in which the interactive program was used daily in a classroom with 4 and 5 year old children, the children evidenced an understanding of the dynamic of the simple contrasting elements of music. Their understanding of contour was also developed to a point higher than two tones played in close intervals. In addition to creating an atmosphere of awareness and accelerated understanding of music more than other programs in use, the program also maintained a high degree of student interest throughout.
