This study explored the day care teachers` job stresses, responses to job stress, and relevant factors to offer exploratory data for the improvement of job environment for day care teachers. Given lack of previous research in the area of day care teachers` job stress, in-depth interviews about job stress were conducted with 14 teachers at 4 centers. Analysis of data revealed that factors related to job stress included time, teacher-child ratio, class size, conflict with parents, and social factors. As the results of stress, the day care teachers experienced the physiological, psychological, and behavioral symptoms. In addition, these stresses appeared to be influenced by teachers` work experience, type of the center, and age of children in their classroom.
