This study intended to find out need assessment of mothers and teachers for parent education from low-income areas in Seoul, Kyonggi, and Inchon. The subjects were 71 mothers of young children and 52 teachers from day care centers located in the disadvantaged areas. The questionnaire for mothers composed of 78 items and that for teachers 34 of items. The data were analyzed with frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and chi square. Need assessment based on item analysis revealed that mothers` need was high in their children`s creative development, sex education, cognitive development and stimulation for curiosity, while teachers` regarded creativity and socialization are needed for these children. The result were fully discussed in terms of discrepancy of need assessment between mothers and teachers.
