This study was done to develop the math tasks as choice activities which can be used for the purpose of performance assessment and to suggest the ways to analyze and quantify the outcomes of the math tasks done by young children during free play time. The math tasks were designed to allow multiple solutions, to decide the criteria or the levels that children want to do, and to do as many as they want. The content analysis for the math tasks was done. The descriptive statistics including frequency and percentile for the whole group was used. The results of this study showed that the math tasks could be used to make a qualitative difference of children`s mathematical thinking, could give information about how they understood and what they actually did, be solved according to their mathematical abilities, and be used for the assessment of whole class. Furthermore, the results of this study provide solid evidence that the math tasks can be used as interesting math activities as well as a tool for math assessment.
