유아의 애착상태와 유치원 생활에서 나타나는 사회정서적 문제행동들간의 관계에 관한 연구 - 한국과 미국 유아를 대상으로 한 비교적 관점에서 - = Relationships between Attachment and Socio - Emotional Problematic Behaviors in Korean and American Preschool Children

This study explored the relationships between attachment components (Attachment, Self-Reliance, Avoidance) and socio-emotional behaviors (Hostile Aggressive, Anxious-Fearful, Hyperactive-Distractive), in Korean and American preschool children. One hundred and twenty preschoolers from Seoul and Madison, Wisconsin participated in the study. All of them were from intact middle-class families. Two instruments were used : the Separation Anxiety Test and the Preschool Behavior Questionnaire. For data analysis, Pearson product-moment correlations were calculated using the SPSS/PC program. Patterns of relationships were very similar for the two groups : the Korean and American preschoolers. Young children`s Attachment scores were negatively related to the scores of Hostile-Aggressive and Anxious-Fearful. On the other hand, Avoidance scores were positively related to those of Hostile-Aggressive and Anxious-Fearful. Overall, findings suggested that preschool children`s attachment components are strongly related to their socio-emotional behaviors.
