The purpose of the study was to develop an assessment model linking the curriculum for the development of creative problem-solving ability in students. Assessment tasks developed based on the assessment model provide feedback for improving student achievement, instruction, and curriculum. The assessment model is comprised of three assessment dimensions and five assessment components. Assessment dimensions are understanding declarative knowledge, applying declarative knowledge, and solving problems creatively using declarative knowledge and procedural knowledge in new settings. Five assessment components are basic knowledge, concept map, investigation, explanation, and creative problem solving. By combining dimensions with components five types of assessment tasks can be created. The first type is to assess whether students recall knowledge they already know that is relevant to perform the tasks; the second type is to assess whether students investigate important declarative knowledge, i. e., important concepts, principles, and key ideas; the third type is to assess whether students explain what they understand; the fourth type is to assess whether students organize important concepts, principles, and key ideas and see relationships among them; and the fifth type is to assess to solve problems creatively in new settings using important concepts, principles, and key ideas. The five types of assessment tasks are designed to show the dimensions, elements, levels, and quality of student`s performance of creative problem solving. The assessment results offer useful information about the students progress and the validity of the curriculum developed in this study. The information will help to improve student achievement, instruction and the curriculum.
