The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of early adolescent's attachment to mothers and impulse control on delinquency. The subjects were 331 eighth graders in Busan. The subjects rated themselves on questionnaires regarding attachment to mothers, impulse control and latent delinquency. The major findings of this study were as follows ;
1) The was no sex difference in attachment to mothers and impulse control. But boys had more delinquency than girls.
2) In boys, impulse control had a first direct effect on delinquency. Attachment to mothers had an indirect effect through impulse control on boy's delinquency.
3) In girls, impulse control had a first direct effect on delinquency. Attachment to mothers had a direct and an indirect effect through impulse control on girl's delinquency. Therefore, attachment to mothers had the most powerful predicator of girl's delinquency.
