    The aim of this paper is to examine the transition and characteristics of Japanese Green Tourism. In this examination, we must consider background in tourism development and green tourism. Through this consideration, contemporary issues of green tourism can be clarified while the importance of green tourism is brought forth.
    The major findings are as follows: Japanese Green Tourism is the trend of the times with major points that involve recreational activities while experiencing rural life for the long' term. Green Tourism Particularly, is supported to promote rural economies in Japan through bed and breakfast accommodations and by the use of resources.
