This paper will study Chae Man-shik`s novels, focusing on his creative subject and unique aesthetics. It will show that his novels, in general, aspire after a country that has economic equality, political independence, and an anti-feudal or modern mode of production. It will also reveal that his novels reflect and criticize the contradictions of his contemporary social reality that conflicts with his ideal. In his literary representation, Chae creates his own unique aesthetics, using irony and satire that exquisitely correspond with his criticism and reflection of the contradictory social reality, and at the same time, trying to provide a whole image of the society.
