The present study was designed to explore generation gap in mentality using 249 undergraduates. The participants rated themselves, the youth generation, and the adult generation each on a value scale of six dimensions. Results indicated that the value system of the participants reflects mainly the positive aspects of both western and Korean culture. Similarity of this value system to either that of the youth generation or that of the adult generation was contingent on the value dimension. Also, there was a clear-cut contrast between the youth and the adult generation in terms of the behavioral characteristics measured on a 10-item scale: Behavior of the youth generation is prone to reflect the western value system, whereas that of the adult generation reflects mainly the indigenous values of Korean culture. However, there was quite a similarity between the generations in the negative evaluation of the status que of the Korean society. All of these findings were discussed in respects of the duality between the behavior and the value system of Korean people.
