The problems of this study are as follows. 1) what are the factors affecting the elder`s life satisfaction in Taegu, Korea? 2) Why do these factors affect the elder`s life satisfaction in Taegu, Korea? 3) What are the socio-cultural, theoretical implications of the factors? The results of this study are as follows: The factors affecting the elderly`s life satisfaction directly are their spousal relationship, economic factor, Mubyung-Jangsu factor (which means no illness and long living), Korean elderly characteristic factor (which is based on Korean familism and related to their children`s health, prosperous business and grandchildren`s health), vertical relationship factor, horizontal relationship factor and non-family relationship factor (which is related to neighbors and friends). Specially, economic factor indirectly affects Korean elderly`s life satisfaction by way of horizontal relationship, and Korean elderly characteristic factor indirectly affects Korean elderly`s life satisfaction by way of vertical relationship factor and non-family relationship factor. The socio-cultural implications of these factors are as follows. These factors are related to the Korean traditional values. Korean traditional values are worldly-centered value, nature-human unification value, oriental humanism value, authority value, collectivism value. To speak more concretely, they can be called Obog(five blessings)-Su(life), Bu(wealth), Gangyoung(happiness), Gojongmyung(good death), Youhoduck(Confucian generalized reinforcement). Mubyung-Jangsu factor is related to worldly-centered value and nature-human value. The Economic factor is related to the worldly-centered value. The Korean elderly chracteristic factor is related to oriental humanism value, authority value and collectivism value. These results have many theoretical implications. Micro factors (economic factor, Mubyung-Jangsu factor) and macro factor (Korean elderly characteristic factor) can be explained by resource theory. In conclusion, the elderly`s life satisfaction in Taegu, Korea can be properly exlained by resourse theory rather than activity theory, disengagement theory and continuity theory.
