The present study starts with the hypothesis that the alienation from study in the academic clique oriented society is the one of the major factors of the juvenile delinquency in Korea. Concern to study is operationalized as commitment and study hours as involvement in this study, and the following four types of adaption to study are made by combining the commitment and involvement : conformity, ritualism, detachment, and abandonment. The major hypothesis is that both commitment and involvement may have deterrent effect toward delinquency but the abandonment type which has nether of commitment nor involvement to study may accelerate the pressure toward delinquency. The results shows that the most of the hypotheses are found out to be valid although the relationship between study pressure and delinquency is not high except status offenses. It may be concluded that the alienation from study is the gateway toward more serious delinquency.
