The cohesion makes a sequence of sentences a unified whole. The methods of cohesion are repetition of lexical factors, repetition of grammatical factors, and discourse-level conjuction.
The cohesion, generated from the repetition of lexical factors and the repetition of grammatical factors, manifests through the structural relation of two sentences. But the discourse-level conjunction is revealed by the semantic connection and the discourse-level conjunciton marker indicates semantic connection of the two sentences. Therefore, the discourse-level conjunction articulates more strongly the cohesion than the repetition of lexical factors and the repetitoin of grammatical factor.
The discourse-level conjunction marker formed in the pseudo-syntactic construction implies more lexical meaning than the discourse-level conjunction marker. Therefore, the former may express more various meaning than the latter.
