In order to determine what teacher characteristics predict teacher use of developmentally appropriate practices, 71 kindergarten teachers practicing in Seoul and Kyounggido were surveyed via questionnaire in 2002. The characteristics listed on the questionnaire are: number of years taught, educational degrees, teacher licenses and beliefs about developmentally appropriate practice. The questionnaire is an adaptation of statements from the Early Childhood Rating Scale and the Primary Teacher Questionnaire. The adapted questionnaire consists of 40 statements to which respondents applied the 5-Likert Scale. A multiple-regression was performed to identify significant predictors of teachers` use of developmentally appropriate practices. Results reveal that teacher licenses and teacher educational degrees are statistically significant factors in determining developmentally appropriate practice. The number of years in teaching and beliefs of developmentally appropriate practice, however, did not appear as significant predictors of teacher use of develomentally appropriate practices.
