The purpose of this study was to find the relationships between children`s play patterns and their socioemotional behavior problems and social development. The subjects were thirty 4-and5-year-old children from P kindergarten in Daejeo. For socioemotional behavior problems, the Preschool Behavior Questionnaire was used. Children`s play and activities were video-taped and evaluated by two observers using time-sampling method, in order to collect data regarding children`s play types and social development. The data was analyzed by SPSS-PC+ program; hierarchical multiple regression analyses were conducted. The results are as follows: Firstly, there were significant relations between children`s dramatic play and anxious-fearful behaviors. Secondly, children`s constructive and dramatic play were influenced by non-social and anti-social behaviors respectively. Thirdly, children`s solitary, parallel, and group play have significant relations with pro-social and non-social behaviors.
