The importance of collegiality among teachers has been addressed in a great deal of research to solve problems and to improve their teaching. Since novice teachers have adjusting and teaching difficulties in a school setting, the main focus of this study is to examine how novice teachers perceive their school experiences, how they perceive the collegial relationship, and how the collegiality helps improve their teaching. Four new elementary teachers in California were interviewed in-depth and the questionnaire was administered. The findings indicated that novice teachers identify their school experiences negatively. While they are having hard time teaching, they do not get help very much from other teachers, staff development programs or university courses taken while they were in college, but they suffer by themselves. They do not have any affiliation with new teachers to discuss difficulties and to team from each other, Their perceived collegial relationship is limited to the areas of sharing emotional comfort and preparing teaching units together.
