Quantitative and qualitative approach both can be used in observational research. So many people has used them in mixed form. The results of uses of mixed form cause to deteriorate the meaning of each research paradigm. And there are some researchers to think that we can understand the object more clearly and distinctly by use of mixed form-eclectic form. The eclectic form can be used to solve the practical problems because solving the problem is the focus of the practical. But the understanding or interpretation of the object are different from the practical. Only when there is commensuration among the research paradigms, they can be unified in one research. The purpose of this research is to reveal the incommensurability between the quantitative and qualitative observation. First, two research paradigms are different in view of world. The quantitative observation presupposes the objective world, but the qualitative observation presupposes the subjective world, Second, two research paradigms are different in view of the reality. The quantitative observation presupposes the unchanging nature of the reality, but qualitative observation presupposes that changing is reality. Third, two research paradigms are different in ways to approach to reality. The quantitative observation adopts analysis and classification as the way to reality, but qualitative observation adopts analysis and abstraction as the way to meaning. The datum from two research paradigms are different in the quality and there is any commensurability between two research paradigms. So two paradigms can net be used in mixed form. Researchers must select to reflect fully the purposes of their research.
