새로운 표현매체로서 종이의 역할에 대한 연구 = A Study on the Modern Paperworks as an art medium

On the basis of the fact that Tsai Lun invented paper in A.D. 105, paper has been an important thing in human life for 2000 years. The role of paper as an art medium, which is one of the paper's abilities, is generalized and wide-spread. Paper, in a sense, seems to exist for drawing because it is easy to get and to express somthing. But recently, a new recognition of paper happens and attracts artists' attention. The new movement is that various paper work is performing by use of paper as a medium, and interested artists are participating in the process of producing hand-made paper. In addition, the characteristics of paper such as flexibility and reaction to dampness, heat and pressure trend toward cubic inclination which comes out form of paper sculpture. Paper, as an art medium, was regarded as a field of painting. But in modern art recognized the value of paper, it comes out as a new trend of art. In these days, paper is recognized not only as an art medium but also as unique pattern of working with hand-made paper.
