대한제국 말기 대구지역 계몽운동과 대한협회 대구지회 = The enlightenment campaign in Daegu region and Daehan Association Daegu Regional Association the last years of the Chosun Dynasty

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Enlightenment campaign in Daegu was spread out in earnest since the 42nd binary term of the sexagenary cycle treaty(Eulsajoyak). It had been developed without any occurrence of the righteous army movement and was related with central enlightenment campaign with regional own identity.
Institutions for enlightenment campaign such as Deagugwangmunsa and Deagugwanghakhoi and others were established autogenously in Deagu. Among them, Daegugwangmunsa regarded promoting education as the main program. Following this program, Daegugwangmunsa installed People Representatives Station and was eager to build schools with close cooperation with a government office. On this process, Confucian scholar was mainly charged in school operation or education and the wealthy played a role as financial supporters to operate schools.
In addition, Participants, along with Daegugwangmunsa raised up the campaign of the national debts redemption to solve the standing out issue at the extent of all over the country at that time.
At the year of 1908, enlightenment campaign groups in Daegu established Daehan Association Daegu Regional Association, which was an enlightenment group representing Daegu. It seems not to be characterized as a political movement or party being different from central groups. The main participants can be classified as Confucian scholars and the wealthy. Most of both classes, however, have economical basis. They accumulated wealth during their government officer life and through landowner management. They also continued to accumulate wealth by taking advantage in the process of economic structure reorganization from Japan at the age of late Dahan Empire(the last years of the Chosun Dyansty). For this reason, it was difficult for Daehan Association Daegu Regional Association to take opposition action against Japan and its activity for industry development came to confine just to rallying words by inclining toward private fund activity.
The main activity course of Dachan Association Daegu Regional Association, therefore, was promoting education. It expanded its positive activity to build and operate schools. And it also came into relation with other enlightenment campaign groups. Especially it played a centripetal role among enlightenment campaign groups.
The Main group of Daegu regional enlightenment campaign, turned its interests to promoting the realistic political and economical interests and instead of restoration of national sovereignty after Korea tumbled down as Japanese colony.
