This paper proposes a new model of self-leadership which consists of six behavioral principles and four desirable characteristics of effective self-leaders. The six behavioral principles are: (1) self-visioning, (2) self-organizing, (3) self-empowering, (4) creative thinking, (5) empathetic interaction, and (6) active involvement. The four desirable characteristics are: (1) competence, (2) vision, (3) integrity, and (4) creative problem-solving. These six behavioral patterns and four desirable characteristics are integrated in a geometric model called the self-leadership diamond.
