The purpose of this study was to analyze types, content, and teaching strategies related to mathematics and science to construct valuable teaching and learning strategies. To achieve this purpose, activities related to mathematics and science during free choice activity time were observed in two classrooms at W kindergarten via non-structured fashion, 3 times a week, for 5 weeks. Observation were analyzed using frequency and qualitative method and focused on the types of activities, content and teaching strategies. Results of the study, indicated three types of activities: integrated math and science activities, independent math activities, and independent science activity. In addition to these findings, content related to mathematics and science tended to be unbalance. As for teaching strategies, teachers appeared to use a variety of teacher intervention such as children assistance, child play involvement, child concept understanding and present activity. Also, teachers seemed to use manipulative teaching materials and preferred individual childwork rather than groupings. Finally, two teaching plans samples were constructed that would implement integrated mathematics and science in field. These were based on the analysis of observational episodes in activities related to mathematics, science and literature(Kim & Kwak, 2001, unpublished).
