This study has been performed to investigate impacts of familial, social and behavioral factors on depression of the Korean mid elderly. In this study, 264 male and females aged 50 to 78 were interviewed for their various demographic factors, life styles, and current feeling on self-depression related questions. The scores of conceptual depression and physical problem-related perception were compared by each independent variable. The results were drawn as follows: As for conceptual depression that reflects usual emotional and feeling on life, the group of female, older persons, no religion nor job, and lower education proved to have higher level of depression. As for the depression regarding physical senility, the group of female, older person, and living in rented space proved to have higher level of depression. Finally in this study, suggestions were made for efficient health management as follows: first, widowed low income females living without children need to participate in emotionality improving self-organized groups. Second, low education group living in rented dwelling units be offered preventive services for depression and low emotionality.
