다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

This research surveyed 1,360 middle school and high school students to study the perception of the elders by teenagers and what factors shape their perceptions. SD method was used to measure the perception of the elders, and explanation variables for factors shaping the perception included current living situation with grandparents, the health and economical level of the grandparents, frequency of having meals with grandparents, the perceived beginning age of an elderly, and the amount of time spent in conversing with grandparents. The results revealed that students both in the city and in the rural areas still hold a slightly positive perception of the elders. Comparing the average of the 17 categories of SD, middle school students showed more positive perception of the elders than did high school students, and the less positive was the perception the higher the grade. The most influential factors in students` perception of the elders were the economic status of grandparents and the sex of the student. There was no significant difference in perception of the elders between teenagers in the city and in the rural (p=.129). However, there was a clear difference in the perceived starting age of an elderly between teens the rural and the city (p=.008). In addition, every variable related to exchanges with grandparents showed correlation to students` perception of the elders. The results of this study will provide valuable information in developing education programs for changing teenagers` perception of the elder.
