It is commonly agreed upon autism is a pervasive developmental disorder in which individuals are impaired in their social interactions, ability to response and ability to communicate. Of all the autism symptoms none has attracted more interest and fascination than the peculiarities of social and interpersonal relationships. This is no doubt because the subtleities and complex variable constituting social relationships are difficult to accept and to educate in all types of families, especially those with autistic children.
The basic premise underlying this study is that the primary environment for the children with autism is the family. It is the most appropriate agents for transmitting basic human culture and living abilities to their young children. The researcher in this study attests to the important role played by the whole family members and community intervention agencies to support the parents of autistic children in carrying out their daily caregiving and intervention tasks.
Although the incidence of autism as compared with similar developmental disabilities is relatively low, it has received a disproportionately large amount of attention from researchers but it has been vise versa in Korea. In general, great attention of researchers is in part because of the severity of the autistic child's developmental problems and its potentially devastating effects and whole family suffering. Nevertheless, the autistic problems of young children persist and become more compelling as the children identified in early childhood grow into primary school students.
The main purpose of this study is to suggest a systematic outline that will get the help the families with autistic children need without having to give up parental responsibility and control.
Finally, the study concluded that when families have a autistic child, all family members will be affected. There is no fail-safe plan which a family should follow. However, the educational interventionsts who have the most frequent contact over long periods of time with the parents of autistic children must assume much of the responsibility for guiding the parents towards a healthy acceptance of their autistic children. Also, early parent education for autistic children will assist the family members in understanding the following.
    1. All family members must maintain a consistent and accepting attitude and not become discourage or overzealous by slow or rapid progress.
    2. Parents must understand that their autistic children may have lifelong afflictions and that it is the parents' responsibility to help prepare the child for a life that is as near normal as possible.
In final, this investigation may the first to determine the prevalence of the childhood autistic population in Korea, as defined by new research diagnostic criteria. The main finding is that autism in Korea occurs twice as frequently as studies incorporating the more traditional definition indicate.
We hope to address some unresolved issues relating to this study in the future researches.
