How does a child achieve knowledge? This question has been an enduring one since we began educating next generation. Constructivism is an epistemological standing which is based on the subjective and creative construction of knowledge of each person. In this tradition, s/he actively constructs his/her own knowledges from his/her own experiences, rather than passively receives objectified knowledges from outside. When we apply constructivism to education, the following implications can be obtained; active participation of child, enducement of child's cognitive conflict, stimulation of child's self-reflection, provision of a variety of social experiences for child, encouragement of child's creative and fresh ideas. It remains as an important task that we relate appropriately constructivism to practice within each concrete situation.
