The purpose of htis study was to analyze the perceived purposes form dance education of dance teachers using the Purpose Process Curriculum Framework(PPCF) on the basis of a Personal Meaning Curriculum Model.
The subject were 141 dance teachers. Questionnaure was composed with 44 questions measuring the degree of importance and another 44 questions measuring the degree of achievement of the dance education purposes, the data responded were analyzed, in terms of the components of the PPCF, over 3 key concept purposes(Individual Development, Environmental Coping, Social Interaction) and then further analyzed by 7 major concept purposes(Physiological Efficency, Psychic Equilibrium, Spatial Orientation, Object Manipulation, Communication, Group Interaction, Cultural Involvement) which are lower concepts of key concepts and by 22 purpose elements or sub-purposes included in major concept purposes.
Statistical techniques to analyze the data were a t-test, a one-way ANOVA, and the Scheffe's test.
On the basis of the analyzed data, the findings were as follows:
(1) The purpose concepts recognized as the most important concrete purpose concepts among purposes presented in the PPCF were [Expression], [Neuro-Muscular Efficiency] and [Clarification].
(2) There was a difference between the recognition level of importance and recognition level of achivement of the dance education purposes.
(3) It was purpose of [Communication] that the gap between the degree of importance and the degree of achievement of the purpose was largest.
(4) On the basis of the above conclusions, human movement purpose concepts presented in the PPCF underlying personal meaning curriculum models can be a adequate basis for the development of curriculum models for dance education.
