일의 의미 척도구성을 위한 탐색적 연구 = The Exploratory Study for Construction of the Scale on the Meaning of Work

The purpose of this paper was to construct the meaning of work scale. It was reviewed the necessity of meaning of work scale. In addition, work and occupation, the importance of work(historical and philosophical/individual/social importance), work and self-esteem, subjective well-being, work and leisure were reviewed. Through the pre-survay, 88 items were constructed for meaning of work scale. The selcetion of item was done by content analysis for open questionare. The participants wer 135. And then, 88 items were used for this study. Four hundred ninety people were partcipated in this survay study. The partcipants had occupation(or job). The Cronbach α value of meaning of work scale was 982. Through the item analysis for 88 items, eventually 78 items were selected as the meaning of work scale. It were statistically significant the correlations of meaning of work and other psychological variables. By the result of factor analysis for 78 items, 10 factors were selected. It were personal growth, identification of self-exisistence, financial benifit, meaning of life, self-worth, helping behavior, time scheuale, stimulation of life, phisical security. And according to the result of the factor analysis, sociometric variables(academic carrer, wedding or not) were analyzed. Finally, it was discussed the validity on the meaning of work sacale, this study problem, and the necessity of study on meaning of work in the industrial setting.
