The selection of and the adjustment to an occupation have become matters of prior concern in the school education, along with the recent diversification of the employment and the extention and specialization within an employment.
In spite of this, Korean educators have paid too much attention only to the higher education guidance so far and thereby ignored the vocational guidance in school education.
Career guidance is important in that it not only helps students to select their jobs wisely but also enable the students to prepare for the prospective job and helps them to get self-satisfaction and self-fulfilment out of it.
An attempt is made here to provide helpful materials for making concrete program for career guidance.
For this end, the followings will be dealt with in this paper ;first, the developmental traits and theories of vocations will be surveyed extensively, and the principles and the approaches for the career guidance will be introduced. And finally, the desirable way of counselling students so as to understand themselves fully, of providing occupational informations, vocational displacement and the methods of evaluation will be presented.
