      T he use of media affects many aspects of our lives , and media influence how we think and how we learn to think. T he impact of media is different based on one`` s psychological, sociological, intellectual, and cultural backgrounds . Since media consolidate various symbolic sys tems to subs tantiate the content, allow re- evaluation, and forms tereotype, we need to unders tand about media and the us e of media through media literacy education. Media literacy education focus on the languages and symbols presented in media to help one to make better judgment. It also mediate its influences , provide pos itive, and active learning experiences . For example, TV literacy education help s tudents to view and unders tand the symbols and mes s ages pres ented in TV by developing their critical thinking and active viewing skills . T he purpos e of this s tudy was to (1) inves tigate the theoretical backgrounds : Creative theory, AIME T heory, and Symbolic Sys tems T heory for media literacy education; (2) develope media literacy education curriculum and learning resources . In the s tudy a sample curriculum and learning resources were developed for grades 5∼6 on topic of advertis ing and s tereotype. It also provided the concept, purpose, curriculum contents , and different formats of media literacy education. T his s tudy can contribute to develop media literacy education curriculum and learning resources by providing practical guidelines .
