The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of referee's decision on athletes' consciousness by the questionnaire in Pusan, Kyongsangnam-province. Subjects were draw from basketball, volleyball, and team handball athletes. Crosstabs and χ² were utilized to investigate the effect of referee's decision on athletes' consciousness as the statistical method. The level of significance of all hypothesis tests were α=.05 and the write got results as follows;
1. In the question of fairness of referee's decision, both males and females groups responded that referees do their best as referee's responsibility, but athletes felt that referees need more fairness of decision in the competitions. To achieve higher record, the higher record groups felt referee's fault in the most of time.
As higher father's education level' athletes untrusted and felt unfairness of referee, but fair decision was found depending upon economical levels.
2. In the question regrading referee's mistaken decision, males group felt that there were more referee's mistaken decision than females group's consciousness because males group's attitudes are more active and positive than females group. Also, males' play is very skillful and speedy so it is very hard to find the athletes' fault in the competition moment. Both males and females groups were not satisfied in terms of the referee's decision.
The higher record groups felt that they did not trust referee's decision and they felt referee's mistaken decisions more frequently happened in competition situations. The higher fathers' educational level's athletes group felt more referee's mistaken decision. Depending upon economical levels, the referee' mistaken decisions was average.
3. In the question regrading reliable referee's decision, the male athlete groups felt referee's decision more effects on their victory than the females athletes group. It was found that there were more referee's mistaken decision in volleyball competition than basketball and team handball. Three different record groups felt that the referee's decision effects on their victory. In different father's educational levels and economical levels, they felt the referee's decision effects on their victory.
4. In the question of referee's attitudes, both male and female groups responded referee's attitudes were authoritative and average. Basketball and team handball players have more authoritative attitudes than volleyball player. And regardless of three different record levels, referee's attitudes were authoritative.
As father's educational levels and economical levels, it found that referee's attitudes were very strict decision at the competitions.
