This study investigated the differential effects of two kinds of science teaching methods on the development of creativity and problem solving ability of young children; inquiry oriented method and traditional teacher oriented method.
Fifty-four kindergarten children of 5-6 years old were participated in this study as an experimental group or a comparative one. Pre-test and post-test of creativity and problem solving ability and treatment of each science teaching method were excuted to all subjects.
The result of this study showed that inquiry learning oriented science teaching method was more effective than traditional teacher oriented teaching method in improving creativity and problem solving ability of young children.
Effective science teaching method and appropriate teacher's attitude in early childhood education were suggested and discussion was followed.
