    Abstract
    This research can be concluded as follows.
    First, Cho-un's sijo works are mostly ones that reflect his personal experiences and, further, the common experiences of Korean people.
    Second, Cho-un's jangsijo works show themselves to be a sort of free verse. This means that he emphasized the Korean soul in his works unlike the literary world then where most of the poets are concerned with the production of the western - style free verse.
    Third, Cho-un's suggested the possibility of writing a new type of tour sijo. He pointed out two facts : One is that the traditional tour sijo is not a pure one ; another is that by visiting historic sites in Korea he interpreted the present situation newly in a historical context to evoke the Korean Soul.

    Lastly, grasping that the traditional sijo had not been intimate with the reader, Cho-un's created a new type of sijo which are easily accepted by the reader while Cho-un created sijo works to evoke Korean soul in the reader.
