This study was designed to explore the effects of role play group counseling at the real action level with changing of conflict resolution modes.
After group counseling, the four types of changing of conflict resolution modes-passive/mitigate, active/mitigate, passive/ intensify, active/ intensify-were to be measured.
It was hypothesized that :
1. Role play group counseling would effect on the active conflict resolution mode.
2. In active conflict resolution mode, role play group counseling would decrease active/intensify mode and increase active/mitigate mode.
Subjects were divided into two groups : i) experimental group subjects were undergraduate volunteers who participated in all 9 group counseling session. ii) control group subjects did not experience the program for the period.
To test the hypotheses of this experimental study, 2(experimental/ control) × 2(mitigate/intensify) × 2(pre/post)ANOVA was applied on passive conflict resolution mode and active conflict resolution mode respectively.
The result of this study indicated that experimental group experiencing role play group counseling showed taking active conflict resolution mode. And they increased conflict mitigate mode and decreased conflict intensify mode on active conflict resolution mode.
Therefore, The result that interpersonal conflict resolution mode changed positively through group counseling for improving the understanding of position of self and another self in active dynamic relationship agreed to the result of other small group trainings.
But, while the previous studies did not show the real effects of group counseling, it is the most outstanding point that this study demonstrated the change of interpersonal conflict resolution mode at the real action level.
