The present study reports on the fourth stage of the Korean adaptation of the State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI-K). The primary purpose of the study was to improve the reliability and validity of the STAXI-K. Especially, there have been a couple of items which revealed different factor structures, compared to the original STAXI in English. Thus, 11 indigenous items selected from the open questionnaire on anger were included in the present study, and the newly constructed experimental scale was administered with 341 college students and 101 adult population. The major findings included: (1) Four items were replaced with new items based on item-total correlation and factor analysis; (2) All scales but anger-in (α= .66) revealed satisfactory level of internal consistency with higher than .70; (3) Factor structure of the STAXI-K revealed the same factor structure to the original English STAXI and (4) Correlation analyses revealed a considerable association between anger-in and anger-out, suggesting that these two variables may not be independent. The present findings were discussed with previous studies across cultures and implications for future studies are suggested.
