가정폭력의 유형별 관련성과 아동의 정신건강에 관한 연구 = A study on types of domestic violence , their inter - relationships , and their effects on children's mental health

The purpose of this paper is to explore 1) the relationships among each type of domestic violence especially focusing on child abuse and wife abuse in terms of the frequency and the degree of violence, 2) the effect of domestic violence on children`s mental health, and 3) the relationship between the type of domestic violence and children`s mental health. The findings of the research are as follows: First, it shows that the child whose mother is abused is more likely to be physically abused or neglected than the child whose mother is not abused. Second, the more seriously the mother is abused, the more likely the child is physically abused or neglected. Third, each of domestic violence is related with the child`s self-esteem, feeling of depression, anxiety, and aggression. Fourth the type of domestic violence is also significantly related with the child`s mental health. The children who are abused themselves and whose mothers are abused show relatively the worst condition in mental health. The children from the family in which any type of domestic violence is never happened show relatively the best mental state. The children from the family in which only child abuse is occurred reveal relatively better mental condition than the children from the family with only wife abuse. Finally, the research also finds a close relationship between wife abuse and child abuse in their occurance and severity. Based on the findings of the research, we suggest that the integrated approach lis needed to solve domestic violence effectively.
